Patient Transport 

Services are provided by G4S on behalf of the NHS Integrated Care Board for Kent and Medway. 

This Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service is available for eligible patients who cannot use other forms of travel because of their medical or mobility condition, or because without the service, their medical condition would otherwise worsen.  

It is there for patients who cannot use public transport, get a lift or a taxi, or drive themselves to, and from their hospital appointment.

BM Ambulance Patient Transport Services

A family run business, providing Non-Emergency Patient Transport Services (NEPTS) in Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

Specialist vehicles, including wheelchair-accessible vehicles to intensive care units, can assist patients with the following:

Volunteer Car Service – Red Zebra

Red Zebra website

Red Zebra Community Solutions is a non-profit making charity. The car service is volunteer-led and drivers provide their time for free.

The service is for people aged over 55 who may have difficulty using public transport due to age or a need for special assistance. You should be able to enter and exit the vehicle independently.

An annual membership fee of £14 per person is required (£20 per couple).

Swale Community & Voluntary Services

Swale Volunteer Centre runs a Volunteer Transport Scheme for local residents who would otherwise be unable to attend essential appointments such as doctor, dentist and hospital, due to difficulty in using public transport.  

A registration fee of £25 is required and an annual fee of £25 per person. Journeys are charged at 50p per mile (minimum charge of £5.00) with an additional £1 admin charge per journey.

Community Transport | Involve Kent

Involve Kent website

Involve Transport use volunteer drivers to provide transport for people who cannot manage on public transport because of age, frailty, illness, disability or injury.

Clients should live within the Maidstone and Malling area; however, journeys can be to anywhere in the UK, including to London hospitals, specialist hospitals and clinics.around the country.

Companion driving services

Driving Miss Daisy is a national assisted transportation service. 

Companion drivers are available and journeys can be individually tailored to meet your needs if you have mobility issues or special medical requirements.

Drivers will assist you in and out of your home, accompanying you on routine appointments, holidays, day trips and companionship at home.
