Patient Transport

Some people may be eligible for Patient Transport which is a non-emergency service to get people to medical appointments. 

The service provides free transport to people who have medical conditions and may need support during a journey, people who find it difficult to walk, and parents or guardians of children being transported.

A volunteer driver service covering various areas throughout County Durham.

Travel services include trips to shops, hairdressers, churches, social clubs and day care services as well as health appointments. 

To be eligible for the scheme, you should be an older person, have physical or learning disabilities or have mental health problems and are unable to use public transport. More information can be found online or by contacting: 01740 658881

Help to Health

A volunteer driver service covering various areas throughout County Durham.

The service costs 50p per mile and has a minimum cost of £1 and a maximum cost of £10 each way. Contact Help to Health online or telephone: 0300 3300 9424

Companion Driving Services

Driving Miss Daisy offers companion drivers nationwide. Your journey can be arranged to meet your individual needs, mobility issues and any special medical requirements.
