Patient Transport Services

NHS supported patient transport may be available to patients who have a physical or mental health condition or learning disability and require the support of Patient Transport Services staff to leave their home or on the journey.

Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) maintains all patient transport assessments and bookings for people in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly travelling to any NHS funded appointments and treatment, at any location. 

Patients who feel they qualify for NHS transport should call the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust centralised booking service on 01872 252211.(Monday to Friday, 8.00am – 8.00pm, weekends and bank holidays 9.30am to 5.00pm).

Voluntary community cars

Age UK (Cornwall and Isles of Scilly) (TAP)

A voluntary car service. TAP (Transport Access People) arrange door-to-door transport for people who have difficulty accessing other forms of public transport.

Carshare Cornwall is a free journey-matching website which offers you the opportunity to find people travelling the same way as you.

Co Cars

Supported by Cornwall Council and funded by the Department for Transport, this car club provides its members with the convenience of a car without the hassle and cost of car ownership. Members pay for a car only when they want to use one. Cars are available in Truro and Falmouth. 

Companion driving services

Cornwall Assist

Cornwall Assist provide companion and driving services. A vehicle is available to seat a wheelchair passenger and can transport a mobility scooter, depending on the size dimensions. Friends and family are able to accompany you. All trips should be booked in advance.

Driving Miss Daisy

Driving Miss Daisy is a national assisted transportation service. Companion drivers are available and journeys can be individually tailored to meet your needs if you have mobility issues or special medical requirements.

Drivers will assist you in and out of your home, accompanying you on routine appointments, holidays, day trips and companionship at home.
